Blue Butterflies Birthday Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :-D

Today it's my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles.

I made this Blue Butterflies Birthday Card.

I used gorgeous Jane's Doodles Butterflies stamp set.

I stamped butterflies on a white watercoloring paper and colored them with Stabilo pens (markers) creating Ombré Effect on each butterfly.

I'm new in coloring with markers, if I don't count coloring when I was a child, and I learned a lot from great video tutorials by Julia Altermann, how to color with Stabilo pens.

This card was a birthday card for my sister in-law. I wanted sentiment to be on Croatian, and since I don't have any sentiments on Croatian, I made one on my computer. It says 'Happy Birthday'. I printed the sentiment with black background, cut out banner and glued 3-D foams behind it, because I wanted sentiment to pop up.

I glued colored panel on a black card base, glued sentiment on the card and embellished it with blue and silver sequins and rhinestones I got in my stash.

Card dimensions are 107 mm x 139 mm (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Butterflies' stamp set
  • white watercolor paper
  • white cardstock paper
  • black cardstock paper
  • Ranger's Archival Ink (Jet Black)
  • Stabilo Pens 68 (Blues 68/13, 68/57,68/41, 68/32, Black 68/46)

Hi everyone :-D

Today I want to share with you CAS (clean and simple), Little Sailboat Card.

To make this card I CASEd two beautiful cards made by two very talented ladies, both members of Create a Smile Design Team

First card is from You and Your Big Dreams by Kelly Latevola and you can see her gorgeous card here and here, on Create a Smile blog. I made same layout, used banner shape and same image.

Then I stamped another sailboat image on a scrap of white cardstock paper, colored it in watercoloring technique using Distress Inks, water and fine paint brush. After drying, I fussy cut image, colored borders with black marker and glued all pieces over the stamped image on the banner.

I added 3-D foams behind the banner and glued it on a card base.

At the end I embellished card with enamel stickers.

Franken Bun Halloween Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

Hi everyone :-D

Today it´s my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs and I made this Franken Bun Halloween Card

I used cute image 'Franken Bun' from Halloween 2014 Release

Details about my card...

Image is paper pieced and I used 4 images to create this one. I printed two images on a white cardstock paper and two on a dark green cardstock paper. I shaded with colored pencil parts printed on the dark green cardstock paper and colored parts with colored pencils and Stabilo markers printed on the white cardstock paper. After coloring, I fussy cut all the parts I needed, colored edges with black marker and glued all pieces together.

Then I stamped sentiment 'trick or treat' from Jane's Doodles 'Winnie Halloween' stamp set. I stamped sentiment couple of times in rows on a white paper. I distressed whole surface with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink using blending tool, sprayed whole surface with water, splattered it a bit and dried it fast with a hairdryer.

I don't have heat gun, so I use hairdryer for drying wet papers. I would love to have one so I could heat emboss, but I'm fine with that. I always try to use what I have and not to buy new things. :-D

I teared my 'patterned paper', black cardstock paper and vellum paper, glued them on a white cardstock card base, added 3D foams behind paper pieced image and placed it on a card.

At the end, I embellished card with homemade black faux enamel dots. I learned how to make faux enamel dots from video tutorial by ScrapTips on YouTube. First I made glue dots with a glue gun on my glass working surface and colored them with Staedtler permanent black pen. After drying, I glued them on card with clear gloss resin.

Card dimensions are 107 mm x 139 mm (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:
  • Kitty Bee Designs 'Franken Bun' from Halloween 2014 Release
  • Jane's Doodles 'Winnie Halloween' stamp set
  • white cardstock paper
  • black cardstock paper
  • dark green cardstock paper

  • Staedtler Lumocolor permanent black pen F (fine) 0.6 mm

Hello, Hola, Bonjour... Card (Jane's Doodles DT Spotlight)

Hi everyone :-D

Today it's my turn to be on the spotlight over at Jane's Doodles.

I made CAS (clean and simplecardHello, Hola, Bonjour... Card.

I used super cute Jane's Doodles  'Dogs' stamp set.

First I stamped a dog on a white cardstock paper panel and colored him with black marker. I did this because I wanted to create a dark shade below the dog.

Next, I stamped the dog on the white cardstock paper and colored him in watercoloring technique using Black Soot Distress Ink, water and fine brush. After drying, I fussy cut the dog, colored borders with black marker, added 3-D foams behind him and placed him on the previously colored dog on the panel.

I cut out a stripe of design paper and glued it on a card base, added 3-D foams behind the white stamped panel and glued it on the card base.

At the end, I stamped sentiment from the same stamp set on a callout sticker I got from a friend, and glued it on the card.

Card dimensions are 107 mm x 139 mm (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

List of supplies:
  • Jane's Doodles 'Dogs' stamp set
  • white cardstock paper
  • Create a Smile, 'Sending Sunshine' Paper Pack

Science Note Holder (KBD Aloha Friday Challenge #54 Mid Inspiration)

http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :-D

Today I'm posting my mid-inspiration project for ongoing Aloha Friday Challenge at Kitty Bee Designs.

The challenge for this fortnight is #54 - School.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Digi Stamps, with an awesome prize for our random winner: 7 digital images of winner's choice.
http://www.bugaboostamps.com/

For this challenge I made a magnetic Science Note Holder, using our sponsor's lovely image 'Bugaboo Brat School - Ruler Boy'.

Image is paper pieced and it has three layers.

I printed two images on a white 120 grams paper. I colored the skin (face, neck and hands) with colored pencils and and blended colors using dry paper stump. The rest of the image (hair, clothes and shoes) I colored in watercoloroing technique using Distress Inks fine paint brush and water.
TIP: When watercoloring image printed on printer, try to avoid black lines to prevent printer ink smearing.

After drying, I fussy cut images and colored edges with black pen.
TIP: When fussy cutting, first cut away large pieces of paper and then cut on the lines. Rotate paper, it will be much easier to cut around tiny details. Color edges of fussy cut image with black pen or marker. This way you'll hide white edges and any white space you didn't cut off and your paper pieced image will look much better.

Then I printed the third image on a white cardstock paper and glued fussy cut parts over it. Again, I fussy cut whole image, leaving white border, because I wanted to create a pocket on my project.

I made simple note holder from the cardstock paper, glued digital design paper panel on it, created pocket with the fussy cut image, decorated it with printed sentiment, enamel arrows and paper clip. At the end I glued 6 magnets on the back of the note holder.

Note Holder dimensions are 103 mm x 167 mm.

Blue Congratulations Card (Crafty Creations Challenges #296)

http://craftycreationschallenges.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone :-D

It´s time for a new challenge at Crafty Creations Challenges.

Our theme for this fortnight is #296 - Back to School: Use a new technique that you have never tried before.

New technique I used for my card that I never tried before is Ink Smooshing. Love it!!!

Here is a card I made, Blue Congratulations Card.

First I made "smooshed" panel. I used Distressed Inks (Broken China, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky) and water. Using a cellophane bag, I smooshed colors on a white watercoloring paper panel. When I was satisfied with color of my panel, I splattered panel with white acrylic paint mixed with water using paint brush.

After I finished panel, I glued it on a white cardstock base. Then, I glued Paper Smooches 'Congratulations' die-cut on the card. I don't have a die-cut machine, so I used die-cut my friend Kristina from Sweden sent me.

I thought I will stop here, but the card was too dark. I glued punched out butterflies from white cardstock paper and vellum paper on the card and glued plastic half beads on vellum butterflies. Finished! :-D

Here are links to video tutorials I used to learn this technique:

Card dimensions are 139 mm x 107 mm (5 1/2" x 4 1/4").

List of supplies:
  • white cardstock paper
  • white watercoloring paper
  • white cardstock paper die-cut Paper Smooches 'Congratulations' (gift from friend)
  • vellum paper
  • Tim Holtz's Distress Inks (Broken China, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky)
