Brush Strokes Birthday Card

Hello everyone! :o)

Today I'm joining a Chasing Mojo with Sweet Kobylkin, a party/challenge by a friend crafter, very talented and amazing designer Ksenija Rizova.

The main rule of the challenge is to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) your own or someone's card from a challenge CASEing gallery. All cards linked to CASEing gallery are GORGEOUS!! I decided to CASE my own cards for this party/challenge. :o)

You can find more details about the party/challenge over at  Ksenija's blog in a challenge post.

As Ksenija, I also find CASEing most inspiring method when in lack of mojo, but also very practical when you need a card in a short time. I make cards almost every day, but I'm always in a lack of birthday cards. Unbelievable... I need a lot of birthday cards this month, so I made two birthday themed, CASE cards. I'll be sharing them in separate posts today.

Here we go... :o)

My first CASE card for today is this CAS (clean and simple), one layer, masculine, Brush Strokes Birthday Card.

Card I CASEd is on the photo below. More details about the original here.
CASEd card

Same design, layout (CTS #167), color scheme, theme, technique, but there are couple differences. Brush strokes are stamped reverse, I stamped one brush stroke less on new card, I used sentiment from different stamp set and skipped stamping stars. :o)

How I made my card...

For my card I used two Paper Smooches stamp sets: 'Positive Strokes Two' and 'Sentiment Sampler'.

I inked brush stroke with Archival Ink and stamped it directly on a top folded card base. I stamped strokes one after another, not re inking the stamp, creating Ombré Effect. This way I got nice grey shades and I didn't use grey ink. I think this would fit to second generation stamping technique description. Then I stamped yellow brush stroke with Distress Ink Mustard Seed and left it dry a bit. I like how strokes are not "perfectly" stamped. They look distressed and more masculine.

A sentiment stamp I used comes originally in one row, but I wanted it in two rows on my card. I could go with masking, but I decided to go with something easier. I cut the stamp carefully diving words 'happy' and 'birthday' to make stamping in two rows easier. With the stamp ready as I liked, I stamped the sentiment on the card base and my card was finished. :o)

Super easy and quick to create. It took me 15 minutes to make this card, including cleaning stamps and working surface. :o)

Card dimensions: 94 mm x 133 mm ( 3 11/16 " x 5 1/4")
